Family Mediation

Family mediation is a confidential process in which a mediator, functioning as an impartial and neutral third party, facilitates the resolution of family disputes and supports the participants’ voluntary agreement in a confidential and non-adversarial setting.

In mediation the Professional Family Mediator facilitates communication between the participants to encouraging understanding and the exploration of options.

Throughout the process the mediator works to focus the participants on their individual and joint interests or needs in an effort to reach mutually acceptable agreements.

“We believe that family matters are just that, family matters. Mediation provides a safe and confidential setting where family matters can be resolved.”

What is a Professional Family Mediator?

Professional Family Mediators specialize in mediating family matters and draw on theories and skills that are routinely used by professionals in other fields of practice.  The diversity of skill needed to provide competent professional family mediation services requires a higher level of training and commitment than in some other forms of mediation.  Professional Family Mediators are professional neutrals and as such are not bias towards one party or the other.  The Professional Family Mediator is responsible for protecting the mediation process and ensuring that progress is productive and meaningful. Throughout the process the Professional Family Mediator assists the participants in determining the goals and outcome of the process and to come to fully informed and mutually acceptable agreements.

Professional Family Mediators can assist in the following areas:
